THE CAPITALA WORLD TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
Abu Dhabi’s first major tennis tournament, the Capitala World Tennis Championship is expected to leave an indelible mark on the UAE by attracting a record number of guests from across the nation and GCC.
The Capitala Community Cup is part of a series of unique tennis-themed initiatives in the weeks leading up to the inaugural Capitala World Tennis Championship, a three-day event in Abu Dhabi, from 1-3 January 2009. The inaugural Capitala World Tennis Championship will play host to six of the world’s best male tennis players including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.
This event aims to raise awareness of the benefits of tennis and the importance of an active healthy lifestyle, whilst also leaving a legacy for the community beyond the tournament.
The three day tournament will feature a multitude of attractions including a unique spectator village, with interactive, fun and family-friendly areas to engage and entertain visitors.
Zayed Sports City is home to four major sporting facilities that have been designed to host a wide range of sporting, leisure and entertainment events. The ATP standard Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex will seat up to 5,000 spectators for the Capitala World Tennis Championship.
Tennis enthusiasts throughout Abu Dhabi have shown their dedication to the game by eagerly signing up as volunteers for the inaugural Capitala World Tennis Championship.
The Capitala World Tennis Championship has already recruited a substantial number of volunteers from the community to fill a wide variety of interesting roles, from ticket-taking, ushering spectators to their seats and providing general stewardship to ensure the event runs smoothly and without disruption. In addition to receiving full training, volunteers will be provided a full kit of event clothing from the event’s official apparel partner, Nike. This will include polo shirts, tracksuit, shorts and shoes.
