Historical Timeline

Ajman in 1800 | The city came into existence by group of family of Al Naeem tribe which was famous for its strength and power in the wars. They were descendants of Aws tribe of Al Ansar who assisted Islamic preaching in the beginning. The city was set up near Ajman creek entrance which became excellent sea port which helped the development and stability of the city. The Ajman residents were practicing diving and fishing. The big fort built in that time became great landmark on the ways of travel groups entering Gulf beach providing travelers and trader’s security, provisions and protection. The historical city represents Zahra and Ajman fort.

Ajman in 1850 | Ajman city developed and stabilized and tribes flocked to Ajman to stay as the got good life chances and security in Ajman and Al Zawra creeks. The Al Awan suburb became new developmental addition towards the east.

Ajman in 1900 | Traders began to come to Ajman city and population groups differed throughout the coast between Ras al Khaimah and Dubai. Buildings grew in suburbs, market areas developed, roads and entrances were finalized.

Ajman in 1926 | HH. Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Huaimi took power. The city of Ajman developed rapidly during his period in all aspects.

Ajman in 1950 | Population increased as HH the crown prince Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi took power of control of affairs of nationals and Ajman local management was set up, new suburbs were set up in Karama, Rumailah, Bustan and Rashidiya to meet population requirements. The 50's & 60's may be the time divider between historical Ajman and modern Ajman.

Ajman in 1971 | After formation of federation Ajman Emirate undertook scientific methods in developing local departments such as Ruler’s court, Municipality Police , Public Security, Passports office, Electricity and water, Justice, Post which work in coordination with federal ministries.

Ajman in 2005 | By issuing the Amiri Decree no. (7) 2005 on 21/6/2005 concerning handling, His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuimi functioned in municipal affairs as a chairman of Municipality and Planning Department of Ajman. It was then necessary for the department to put a new strategy depends on structural development of all departments and sections including the effective performance and its contribution to give the best services for the customers which was required for economic development.

With the development which the area has witnessed in construction and other modes of life, Ajman has developed quickly to occupy a pioneer position in the various economic fields. The government of Ajman is very well aware of the historical and the strategic importance of the Emirate, and therefore it has persisted on issuing the necessary directives to attract the investments and to utilize the available sources to upswing the economy in a perfect dimensioned plan in one frame work.

Therefore under the directives of H.H. Shiekh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of supreme council ruler of Ajman all the concerted departments have shared in the integration of the economic frame work concentrated on the basic axes to touch the most important development fields.
