Electricity and Water Supplies
The Electricity and Water Department in Ajman is keen to extend its services to all parts of the Emirate. The Department is continuously strengthening its power stations linked to central system and distrubition substations to cope with the increasing demand for power supplies.

Ajman Free Zone
By virtue of its location at the foot of the Arabian Gulf, the Ajman Free zone is widely regarded as the ideal location for the supply of regional markets with goods and manufactured products. The cheap energy and the absence of bureaucratic complications, coupled with the availability of numerous facilities, have attracted many investors to base their industries in Ajman. The Free Zone lies on a vast plot of land which may further be extended for the execution of new projects.

Education, Collegiate & University Services
As is the case in other emirates, the Federal Ministry of education has established many school for the primary, preparatory and secondary stages to meet the education needs of the emirate’s young people. The educational institutions in Ajman play a crucial role in enchancing development efforts and social welfare. By training and graduating qualified national cadres these institutions will definitely help speed up the pace of progress in country.

Ajman University for Science and Technology was founded in 1984.

The Gulf Medical Collage has been inaugurated in Ajman which is specialized in medical and health studies.

The International collage of law and business Administration was founded in the year 1999.

Industrial revival In Ajman

Ajman industry has been undergoing an intensive process of modernization and expansion. However, industrial development based on the Emirate’s policy of support, is presently facing the challenge of global modernization and exposure to international and exposure to international competition. Notwithstanding the above, Ajman has proved to be the third most successful Emirate within the UAE in terms of volume and number of factories and manufacturing units and plants.

The Ajman economy is the most diversified and the third biggest one in the UAE. The largest industry in the Emirates is the readymade garments industry which ranks second in the UAE in terms of the number of factories. According to official statistics more than 20% of industrial plants in the country are located in Ajman. Growth of industries in Ajman and local and international popularity of products made in Ajman has led many industrial units to invest in the latest production equipment to maintain international standards and modernize their manufacturing facilities. Thus several industries in Ajman started to seek compliance for their products and services with the quality required by the International Standards Organization (ISO) and management of total quality. These moves by local industrial firm have enable Ajman to supply products and services of a highly competitive nature that can penetrate international markets.

In fact some Ajman industrialists have already been certified by the ISO 9000. Ajman factories cover most industrial fields such as:

1. Food Industry: dairy product, cheese, fisheries, seafood, confectioneries, mineral water.

2. Readymade Garments, Leather and Textiles.

3. Timber and furniture

4. Paper , Paper products, Publishing & Printing.

5. Chemical and Plastic Products: including perfumes, cosmetics, household and industrial cleaners, detergents, all types of plastic products. Paints, coatings, grease, industrial and medical gases, various type of chemical products, asphalt materials, insecticides, agriculture chemicals etc.

6. Non-metal Mineral products: covering cement, bricks, tiles, marble and fiberglass products.

7. Basic Metal: Including aluminum products, aluminum and steal bars, iron, steel, and metal casting, nail and screw, metal wires etc.

8. Metal products, machinery, Equipment and boats: covering ships, boats, yachts, metal Kitchens, regfigeration equipment, metal work, tanks, metal molding, metal extrusion and rolling, hands tools, metallic articles such as utensils, cans, containers, wires, steel rope, lathe works, leveling metal safes, scaffolds, pumps, valves, caps, engines, industrial equipment, electrical household appliances such as water heaters etc.

9. Other Converting Industries: including gold and silver products, jewellery, precious stones and toys.

10. On the heavy industry side, the Arab Heavy Industries Corporation, specializing in engineering works, erection and installation of all kind of steel structures for offshore rigs, port.
