Desc: This class provides detailed instruction in both wheel work and hand building techniques for all skill levels. Beginners and experienced potters are most welcome to join this enjoyable class in our well equipped studio. Each class includes enjoy lively demonstrations, and will be introduced to practical methods of hand-building and wheel work. The classes are small and cosy with a maximum of four students working with the wheel at a time. Pottery on the Wheel can be fun filled activity to try with your girlfriends.

Desc:Her Highness Sheikha Manal’s Young Artist Award 2009 is now open for entries. This year the application process will be conducted via the newly launched website www.YoungArtistAward.ae where interested participants can follow the instructions on the website to make their online submission. The deadline to apply and upload entries is 30th October, 2009. The competition will be divided into four categories - 'Fine Art Award'; 'Photography Award' and 'Multimedia Award'. Each category winner, runner up and second runner up will receive a cash prize worth AED30,000, AED20,000 and AED10,000 consecutively.

Discover the Art of Ribbon Embroidery

Desc: Join us for a workshop to learn the art of ribbon embroidery. A popular craft in Victorian and Edwardian periods, ribbon embroidery first appeared in France during the 1700s Rococo period and was used to decorate the gowns of royalty and members of the court. In this workshop you will learn the basics of ribbon embroidery that can be used to decorate clothing, quilt, pillows or other items. Participants will make ribbon embroidered items to send to a special friend or take home for themselves.

Clay Sculpture for Kids

Desc:Come and enjoy the accessible and highly tactile medium of clay! In this hands-on studio program, young artists will develop and refine a variety of hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, slab construction and modeling. Students will learn surface decoration techniques as well, working with underglazes, low-fire glazes and high-fire glazes. Past projects have included  flower pots, creative sculptures, masks, slab pots, cups, bowls and more.

Desc:Baby & Toddler Splash is the perfect way for you and your little ones to begin to enjoy a relationship with water which will last a lifetime. The classes are fun filled sessions which introduce the basics of swimming and water confidence at a young age through songs, toys and fun play. Baby Splash is for children 3 months to 23 months and Toddler Splash is for 23 months to 3 years.The lessons will take place in the main club pool which is shaded and the water is kept at an ideal temperature. All play equipment is provided and swim nappies for children can be purchased at the Club Reception..

Digital Photography for Kids

Desc:From July 2009, The Art Centre at Dubai Ladies Club will offer a course in Digital Photography course specially designed for tech savvy kids. Using either a digital or disposable camera, trainees will get to learn the basics of aesthetic, subject selection, contrast, colour, tonality,  proportion, and more for composing a good picture. They will be challenged to make full use of their imagination and creativity to take good pictures and learn to refine their ideas from critiques or the trainer and their peers.

Paper Mache for Kids

Desc:Learn about the basics of paper mache sculpting and then create an object out of newspaper, masking tape, foam board and/or cardboard. Next, students begin the actual paper mache process by applying newspaper strips saturated in a glue/water mix to the object. In previous workshops, students have created sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, eels, butterflies and more.

Introduction to Painting for Teenagers

Desc:This class will work as both an introduction to painting for teenagers new to the medium and as a place to build skills for those with previous experience. The course will focus on teaching basic techniques to stretching your own canvas, priming of the canvas as well as the use of tools, mark-making, color mixing and much more. They will be introduced the Principles and Elements of Art which enable an artist to look at their own work critically and objectively.
