Special Features
Dubai Knowledge Village
Dubai Knowledge Village (KV) is a vibrant, connected learning community that will develop the region’s talent pool and accelerate its move to the knowledge economy.
KV was set up to develop Dubai into a destination for education for both regional and international learners. This new education and training hub is also set up to complement the Free Zone’s other two clusters: Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City by providing the facilities to train the clusters’ future knowledge workers.
Dubai Knowledge Village provides the infrastructure for developing, sharing and applying knowledge. In addition, Dubai Knowledge Village has expanded to include the mega-campus Dubai Knowledge Universities, the first stage of which will be completed in 2006.
Objectives
Dr. Abdulla Al Karam has held the position of the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Knowledge Village since its inception in 2002. In 2004, he was also appointed as the Director of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid IT Education Project.
Dubai Knowledge Village provides value-added services to students with new community website
The new website includes a course search, student news and e-services that enable students to apply for internships and scholarships online. More e-services are planned for the future. In addition the site includes a comprehensive guide to KV’s academic institutes, training partners and education support service providers.
New Scholarship Programme to Attract Talent
The scheme, administered by KV’s Department of Student Services and Programs (KV-DSSP) will award scholarships based on academic merit. Both existing and prospective students at the cluster are expected to apply, attracting the best of the region’s talent to Dubai.
Scholarships will be funded by the universities participating in the initiative and an applicant can apply to any programme of study within that institution.
