Expats guide to Dubai
Almost half of Dubai’s population is now made up of non-nationals - a.k.a. expats. The emirate is simply growing at an astonishing rate, the numbers of jobs and business opportunities increase annually and the attraction of this ‘no tax’ jurisdiction is intensifying as more and more investment is simply ploughed into the improvement of an already incredible destination.Expats living in Dubai benefit from a no tax lifestyle and a wealth of employment possibilities and leisure activities.
With the creation of Dubai’s free zones the emirate has attracted thousands of national, international and global companies who are all keen to take maximum advantage of the liberal business laws and taxation structures offered in the free zones and who are all able to recruit the best employees from anywhere in the world.
This has led to an abundance of professional jobs being available in fields as diverse as marketing, engineering, financial services, banking, shipping, transport, communications and hospitality...to name but a very few. Dubai is now home to expat professionals from around the world who come together and live in multi cultural, multi racial and multi religious harmony with their UAE hosts.
‘Embrace Dubai’ is a service that has been created by ITP Consulting to help the brand new or even seasoned expat settle into life in Dubai and understand and get the most out of their time in the UAE. ‘Embrace Dubai’ takes the form of a series of workshops and seminars presented by UAE Nationals for the direct benefit of any foreign residents in Dubai and include such themes as: - Social Etiquette Religious Events Prayers and Call to Prayer Law and Order Communication in the Workplace Inshallah Factor Religious Considerations in the Workplace Working Ethics Conducting Business in Ramadan… Etc., etc. The seminars are a fantastic way into life in Dubai for any expat hoping to integrate, settle and ultimately make Dubai home.
The social scene in Dubai is quite simply incredible. Whatever the expat is into the expat will find! There are golf clubs aplenty, rugby, football, polo, swimming, diving clubs and every other type of sporting club you can think of. Then there are the hundreds of bars, pubs, restaurants, wine bars, clubs, cocktail bars, cafes and lounges all offering up a different flavour, vibe, theme or feel and many offering a whole host of specialist theme nights which vary night by night or month by month.
These are all great places to meet up and make friends with other expats and to network. Networking is the best way any expat can get the most out of life in Dubai, it’s how you will meet like minded people, it’s how you’ll find out about a job that suits you, a flat available for rent, a car available for sale, the latest gossip and news and how ultimately you can learn about what it’s really like living in Dubai.
