Tabreed
Tabreed was established, with the assistance of the UAE Offset Group (UOG) in 1998, as an offset project for the provision of cooling services. Tabreed plans to establish district cooling plants - powered either by gas or electricity from the local grid, depending on availability - to supply chilled water for cooling purposes to residential, commercial and industrial buildings through a pipeline network. Tabreed is the UAE’s leading district cooling service provider. The schemes are designed to be more efficient than conventional air-conditioning and they employ half the energy as that which is normally consumed by existing systems.Tabreed has marked another milestone in its quest for business excellence by receiving three major international certifications for the "production and supply of chilled water for district cooling services" in the region.
Al Muroor Scheme Tabreed’s first district cooling scheme in the City of Abu Dhabi currently supplies over 12,000 tons of cooling to a range of residential, commercial and governmental customers. Further customers across six-kilometer area, in Al Muroor District, can be supplied to ultimately increase the facility’s contracted capacity to over 22,000 refrigerating tons.
Zayed Sports City Scheme Tabreed’s second district cooling scheme in the City of Abu Dhabi currently supplies over 5,000 tons of cooling to a range of residential, commercial and governmental customers. Further customers across the Zayed Sports City area can be supplied to ultimately increase the facility’s contracted capacity to over 22,000 refrigerating tons.
Al Bateen Tabreed is currently developing a 19,000 TR scheme at West 35 Area in Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi to serve a number of commercial and residential developments. The first phase of the scheme is designed to provide cooling to the Six Towers Development which is comprised of 2 towers owned by the Private Building Est. and another 4 towers that are owned by International Capital Trading.
Al Jimi Scheme When the Municipality scheme in Al Ain started operations in 2001 it covered an 1,125 square meter area. Over the last few years the scheme coverage increased and it now supplies cooling to Al Jimi Mall, Al Ain Vegetable and Fish Market, the Celebration Hall and the Municipality expansion project.
When fully completed, this scheme will be able to supply cooling to municipal buildings and hospitals in addition to surrounding properties in its vicinity.
Sh. Zayed Rd. Scheme The Sh. Zayed Road scheme commenced operations in summer 2002. Designed to provide cooling to a range of residential and commercial buildings, the scheme serves its customers with hassle-free, economic and environmentally friendly reliability.
In addition to that, Tabreed has expanded its network by opening a new micro tunnel that connects the two side of Sh. Zayed Road. The tunnel will enable Tabreed to augment its service capacity, and provide cooling services to buildings on the other side of the road.
Tabreed already has an impressive clientele base on one side of Sh. Zayed Road, including the Shangri-La Hotel, Towers Rotana, Tower Number One Suites, Noor Al Maarif School, Kharbash Tower and Park Place, Capital Towers and Liberty Tower.
The tunnel is one of the longest in the region and is the second to be built by Tabreed, the first being in Abu Dhabi. The tunnel was constructed without disrupting the road or surrounding areas. It consists of two tunnels, one supplying the chilled water and the other returning it to the district cooling station. The tunnel has been placed at a depth of six meters underground, with concrete sleeves of 1200mm inner and 1490mm outer diameter.
Fujairah Scheme Tabreed has signed a 20-year contract with Union Water and Electricity Co (PJSC) to provide cooling services to the Fujairah Water and Power Plant. This scheme is Tabreed’s first in the UAE to utilize th
