United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee
The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) had been established on 19 December 1979. The NOC had been accepted as a member of the International Olympic Committee on 11/6/1980.The NOC is an "independent sports body" consisting of the existing national sports federations and those to be established in future, and is responsible for managing the sports included in the programme of the Olympic Games. The NOC is the parent authority of the national sport and is responsible for the technical aspects, whereas the General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare caters for the administrative and financial aspects of the national sports federations and associations.
Spreading the Olympic Movements and its ideals, maintaining & protecting rules & principles in cooperation with the National Sports Federations. The NOC endeavors, by all suitable means, to arouse enthusiasm of sportsmen in order to promote their physical & moral characteristics. Propagating the fundamental principles of Olympism at national level within the framework of sports activity and contributing, among other things, to the diffusion of Olympism in the teaching programmes of physical education and sport in schools & university establishments.
It contributes also to the creation of institutions, which devote themselves to Olympic Education. In particular, it is concerned with the establishment & activities of National Olympic Academies, Olympic Museums and cultural programmes related to the Olympic Movement.
