Dubai has become a regional hub for business and finace as a result of the development of Intentional and domestic trade. This has lead the Department of Economic Development to assume the role of guardian of the movement of trade, and to create a commercial conducive to a stable and trustworthy atmosphere for everyone dealing in business.As a part of its continuing efforts to improve consumer and trader awareness about products, the Compliance Division at the Dubai Department of Economic Development introduced a new website called Hemaya that highlights a variety of branded consumer products which can be duplicated by unprincipled traders.
The Hemaya website includes the division’s guidance and awareness messages to the public, rules and regulations that consumers and merchants should abide with in Dubai, in addition to several pictures and examples of original and counterfeit products. The initiative is expected to become an important mechanism to spread awareness on fraud, duplication, counterfeit products, trademark infringements and patent rights.
The Department also aims to maintain a business environment that is highly organized and conducive to attaracting investment . These objectives cannot be achived without the active co-operation and involvement of the residents of Dubai.
