Daman - National Health Insurance Company
Daman, the first specialized national health insurance company to be formed in the UAE, was established on September 26, 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Government to provide the compulsory health insurance plan for expatriates and to have exclusive access to the public providers in Abu Dhabi. It has a large global provider network and can offer its clients a complete health insurance solution based on the needs of the group by providing a combination of the basic and technical products. Daman’s strong government support and international expertise make it the leading dedicated health insurer in the region. Daman received licensing to insure both the Government and Private Sector by the Ministry of Economy and by the General Authority for Health Services (GAHS).The Daman team is comprised of professionals with international and local experience in the health insurance industry. The start up team of Daman was successful in establishing the organization to handle the large number of potential insured members for its Basic Abu Dhabi Plan and the other technical products that have been developed. The Daman management team recognized the importance of collaboration with the health care providers. The insurance scheme established by the government will require the full cooperation of all the organizations within the health care industry and the outcome will lead to a positive overall improvement in the health care system for everyone.
