Al Noor - A Centre for Children with Special Needs
Al Noor is a Centre for Children with Special Needs run under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.The Centre is passionately committed to helping children with special needs, from infancy to adulthood, it’s goal being to integrate its students into society.

Al Noor provides care for children who are Intellectually Challenged, Slow Learners and children with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Autism. Children are put into ability groups (classes) which are grouped into various units.
Nursery: The entry unit, with children aged between 3 – 8 years. Classes are grouped according to ability.
Prep: The programme in this unit is mainly a progression of the Nursery Unit, with children aged between 9 – 14 years.
Senior Boys & Girls: Young students between 14-18 years are placed into ability groups. Boys and girls are segregated into separate classes.
Intermediate: This section comprises of children who are Multiply Challenged at a severe to profound level of Intellectual Functioning. Again, groups are formed according to age, physical and mental ability of the children.
Slow Learners: This section supports children who have been unable to cope with the regular academic curricula required for their chronological ages, and for those children who have attained a certain academic level in the Prep Unit.
Work Placement: This unit is for those students who are at least 16 years of age, who have reached an academic ceiling but have specific skills and abilities, and who can be placed in open employment.
Special Events
Annual Concert : The Centre puts up a musical concert each year. The event sees each and every child participate in some capacity and helps showcase their talents, as well as build confidence and enhance communication skills. It’s a great day for parents to see their special child in a special role, taking centre stage.
Annual Sports : The year round sports programme builds the children’s physical abilities and skills, that are proudly put on display, during the annual sports day. Once again each and every child participates and whilst healthy competition is encouraged, the focus is mainly on each child performing to his/her potential and enjoying the event.
Mother Support Meetings : A group formed mainly to give support to mothers. The meetings are co-ordinated by the school Psychologist. The aim to is to give guidance to mothers, help them interact with each other and share information. At times speakers from outside have been invited to address this group.
End of Year Children’s Party : A yearly sponsored event, it is one which the kids look forward to the most. An occasion to dress-up and enjoy music, games and good food.
