Gulf Photo Event 2006

Overview Photography Workshops and Lectures by leading international photographers. There is something for everyone, from absolute beginner all the way through to professional photographers and graphic designers.

Learn how to use studio lighting, take great interior, industrial, product or action shots with Charlie Borland and Michele Curel. Find out how to approach perfect strangers for a model release for that valuable stock shot with Bryan Peterson. Learn how to use your point-shoot camera to get great results, create wall art from your favourite photo or create a photographers website with Robin Nichols.

For the professional photographers and graphic designers, Jack Davis, ADOBE Hall of Famer and author of the Photoshop WOW series, will be giving lectures on ‘hot’ Photoshop topics and more! If you are unsure about the terminology and basic concepts of photography, attend the full day Crash Course that is being held by Souheil Semaan on the 9 th February. This course has been added so you can get the most from the workshops and lectures the following week. Professional photographers and graphic designers have also been catered to this year with lectures by Jack Davis, co-author of the PhotoShop WOW series and Photoshop Hall of Famer.

The Workshops All workshops will start with a classroom session. This gives you quality time to learn and understand the theory and ideas behind the workshop topic. Then it is out into the field to practice. Where scheduling allows, for some workshops a small project will be given and you will have a day or so to complete this. You will then return with your best images for a short review and critiquing session. The critiquing session is part of your workshop and there is no additional charge.

The locations chosen for many of the GPP 2006 workshops are either in the Media City Free Zone area or in pre-arranged, less public venues. We have done this to avoid wasted time in traffic and the increasing difficulties faced taking photos in public places.

Five of the workshops this year will be using professional models. Each photographer will be provided with a model release for stock photography so you have an opportunity to re-coup the cost of the workshop (and more).
