Dubai Rugby Sevens
Rugby began with a small band of British expatriates, and has in the last few years developed into one of the premier Rugby Sevens events in the worldThe Dubai Sevens has grown into a magical event that not only attracts fans from around the globe but offers some of the best action.
The first day of Rugby consists of local and international invitational teams in action with days two and three seeing the 16 international sides compete for the Emirates International Trophy in the IRB Sevens World Series
The Sevens will feature a permanent grandstand with 4,000 seats and temporary stands will be erected around this permanent structure to cater for over 40,000 people
15,000 fans that will fly in from all corners of the globe for the event and you have a fabulous mix of entertainment that will rock Dubai.
The venue includes six rugby pitches and will host the annual Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens in November followed by the Rugby World Cup Sevens in March 2009, is set to become the Middle East’s new home of rugby.
And to complete the rugby extravaganza, the popular ’Rugby Rock’ concert will be held on the final night of the event to bring to a close the region’s biggest party and sporting spectacle.
Some of the world’s most entertaining cheerleaders will fly in from Australia prior to the event to form the popular Aggreko Dynamos. Saba’a, which means seven in Arabic, has grown to become a huge hit at the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens. The charismatic mascot loves the party-atmosphere of the event and is a favorite with young and old.
The general public voted it ad the Dubai’s ’Best Sporting Event’ at the What’s On Awards for five years.
