Italian Industry & Commerce Office
The Italian Industry & Commerce Office in the UAE (IIC) is a non-profit organization that offers consistent assistance to the Italian enterprises in their survey and approach to the bustling UAE market. This year IIC celebrates the 10th anniversary of its presence in the UAE and its activities. With a then different denomination, IIC was established in 1999 in Sharjah as a result of a venture developed by the Turin’s C.N.A (Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises) and supported by the Piedmont Region and the Italian Trade Commission. In 2002 IIC extended its know-how to the entire Italian national territory and in 2004, Confartigianato also joined the project.
During these years, over a 1700 selected local operators were put in contact with Italian companies, proving networking to be the core of IIC’s business.
In 2003 IIC developed the concept of the “Italian Lifestyle in the Emirates”, the only Italian trade fair in the entire Gulf. The first edition was held in 2004 in coordination with the Sharjah’s Expo Centre and Artex Firenze. This event became part of the Italian Trade Commission’s national plan and gained the patronage of the Italian Ministry of International Trade, the Italian Embassy to the U.A.E., C.N.A. and Confartigianato.
In November 2006 IIC commenced the process of acknowledgment by the Italian Government as an authorized overseas Italian Chamber of Commerce.
