UAE Financial Markets News

04 October 2009. The ADX fell 0.33% to 3128 points from turnover of AED 264m. The DFM fell marginally by 0.11% to 2192 points from turnover of AED 552m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1445 UAE time, DP World and Damas are down 2.5% from low volumes, and Depa is unchanged from one trade.

Dubai Financial Market
Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai, and the only one trading more than AED 100m worth, as it closed 0.49% down at 4.05 in a steady recovery from opening down about 2% at 3.96. There were only 5 gainers with the top riser Emirates Integrated Telecommunications (DU) with a 3.4% rise to 3.34, except for a handful of 5% limit up trades for Al Firdous Holdings (ALFIRDOUS).

Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) and Dar Takaful Insurance (DARTAKAFUL) rose more than 1%, and Drake & Scull (DSI) was up 0.95%. Ten stocks closed unchanged, including Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Dubai Investment Company (DIC), Union Properties (UPP), Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV), and Emirates NBD (ENBD). The worst loser was Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA), 10% limit down at 5.59 on surprisingly high volumes (it rarely sees any trading).

Gulf Finance House (GFH) fell 4.2%, National General Cooling (TABREED) 2.0%, Al Salam Bank Sudan (ALSALAMSUDAN) and Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) fell 1.4%, and another 7 stocks fell less than 1%.

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange
Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi with AED 71m worth of turnover, and a 1.1% fall to 6.06. Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 2.4% to 0.84.

Ras Al Khaimah Cement (RAKCC) fell 2.1%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 2.0%, Methaq Islamic Insurance (METHAQ) 1.55%, and the remaining losers were down less than 1.5% or on low volumes. There were 12 gainers including 4 with single 10% limit up trades - Emirates Driving Company (DRIVE), Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), National Marine Dredging (NMDC), and United Arab Bank (UAB).

Three of the gainers saw more than AED 1m worth of trading - Al Khazna Insurance (AKIC) up 2.8%, First Gulf Bank (FGB) up 1.2%, and Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) up 0.62%. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) fell 0.82% and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) fell 0 .37%.
