Dubai World Championship

With less than 60 days to go until the grand finale to The Race to Dubai - and already more than 50,000 registrations for free tickets - anticipation is building for the thrilling event which is already starting to cement its place in the sporting calendar before a ball has even been hit in anger.

After a season’s hopes and struggles, which will have taken in 49 tournaments held in all corners of the globe, only the top 60 players from The Race to Dubai will qualify for the season finale to be held on Greg Norman’s stunning Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates; a course which will be played for the very first time by the glittering array of stars on display.

The competition amongst these stars is really starting to hot up, with current Race leader Martin Kaymer holding off strong challenges from Paul Casey, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, and Geoff Ogilvy, while Anthony Cabrera, Sergio Garcia, and Henrik Stenson are just some of the big names waiting in the wings, plotting their next move to rise up the rankings.

There is no doubt that the prestigious slot held in the sporting calendar as the season’s climax coupled with the guaranteed world-class field means that the Dubai World Championship will provide a thrilling festival of golf for the thousands of spectators set to descend on Jumeirah Golf Estates in November. To add to the excitement a range of entertainment has been planned for all ages and tastes, resulting in a festival atmosphere for you to enjoy with your friends and family.

There’s plenty besides thrilling golf to keep Dubai World Championship guests busy, both on the course and in the Championship Village. Whether guests prefer barbeque chicken or Asian fusion, a refreshing soda or something stronger, the options on offer will suit all tastes.

Look for these spots to drink and dine in the Village:

Jack Daniels BBQ and Bar
Sports bar
Asian fusion eatery
Costa Coffee Lounge
Plus a wide range of fish, chips, pies, sandwiches, ice creams and more
And as you walk around the course, taking in the world class action, you will never be far away from refreshment. Here’s a quick guide of what to expect:

Overlooking the signature 17th green will be one of the major attractions of the tournament: the well known Dubai hotspot, Left Bank, will be creating a sensational shaded bar and deck, where visitors can eat, drink and watch the action on this make-or-break island green.

Situated between Holes 5 and 6, a relaxing chill-out area offers a variety of drinks and snacks and a great view over much of the front nine. A great location to catch the best of the play during the morning and early afternoon as the players make their way around the front nine
A similar spectator area will be situated between Holes 10 and 13, where guests can grab a bite and watch players tee off on 10 and, a few holes later, sink putts on the Par 3 13th.

As you watch history being made on the 18th, you can either sit in the grandstand or visit the decked bar, boasting stunning views down the 650-yard, par 5 finishing hole. With access to the bar from the grandstand you won’t even have to leave for refreshments.

And then there are the festivities that Dubai World Championship has planned to complement the battle and triumph of its world-class competition:

Spectators can put their own golfing skills to the test with a state-of-the-art ’Full Swing’ simulator
Those who find the simulator too challenging without a few tips can get a free ten minute lesson just next door with a professional coach from the Emirates Golf Foundation
If you have overindulged at the food and beverage venues, then you can shed a few calories with Fitness First trained exercise instructors as they put you through your paces
Leave your children in the Kids Zone or take them to watch golf magic as one of the world’s most talented trick shot performers amazes you with his many talents!
