UAE Financial Markets News

21 October 2009. The ADX fell 0.85% to 3156 points from turnover of AED 181m. The DFM fell 1.6% to 2258 points from turnover of AED 644m. On the Nasdaq Dubai at 1430 UAE time, Damas, DP World, and Depa are all unchanged on low turnover.

Dubai Financial Market

Emaar Properties (EMAAR) was the most active stock in Dubai and the only one trading more than AED 100m worth, with a 2.3% fall to 4.60 from AED 254m worth of deals. Emarat Takaful Insurance (TAKAFUL-EM) was the worst loser, dropping 5.6% to 1.70, Shuaa Capital (SHUAA) fell 3.9%, Dubai Financial Market (DFM) 2.7%, Emirates NBD (ENBD) 2.4%, Islamic Arab Insurance (IAIC) 2.3%, Dubai Investment Company (DIC) 2.1%, Arabtec (ARTC) 2.0%, and the remaining losers fell less than 2%. Gulf Finance House (GFH) and Ektitab Holding (EKTTITAB) stood out with 15% limit up gains on much heavier than usual trading. Global Investment House (GLOBAL) was also 15% limit up but on low volumes.

Al Madina Finance (ALMADINA) rose 7.1%, also on greater than usual trading, Al Firdous Holdings (ALFIRDOUS) and Gulfa Mineral Water (GULFA) were 5% limit up on low volu mes, Arab International Logistics (ARMX) rose 1.7%, and Al Salam Bank (SALAM_BAH) was up 0.93% on thin trading. Air Arabia (AIRARABIA), Gulf Navigation (GULFNAV), and Dubai Islamic Insurance (AMAN) were unchanged.

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange

Aldar Properties (ALDAR) was the most active stock in Abu Dhabi but still only traded AED 45m worth as it fell 2.1% to 6.20. Arkan Building Materials (ARKAN) was the worst of the more active losers, falling 3.9% to 3.70, Waha Capital (OILC) fell 2.9%, Sorouh Real Estate (SOROUH) 2.5%, Agthia Group (AGTHIA), Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA), Dana Gas (DANA), Ras Al Khaimah Properties (RAKPROP), and Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics (RAKCEC) all fell about 2.4%, Green Crescent Insurance (GCIC) was down 2.3%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Aabar Energy (AABAR) 2.2%, and the remaining losers were down less than 2% or on thin trading.

There were only 6 gainers with Ras Al Khaimah White Cement (RAKWCT) up 3.0%, National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) up 1.45%, and Union National Bank (UNB) up 0.3%, the only ones trading more than AED 1m worth of shares. Emirates Telecom (ETISALAT) was down 0.80% to 12.30.
