Dubai School of Government Hosts Roundtable for US Treasury Department Officials and 20 Dubai Based Economists
The Dubai School of Government today hosted a roundtable discussion that featured two visiting officials from the US Treasury Department and a select group of 20 Dubai based economic and finance professionals. The US Treasury Assistant Secretary Mary John Miller and Deputy Assistant Secretary Matt Rutherford led the interactive discussion that focused on a range of issues including the US economic recovery and its regional implications, the US debt management, regulatory reform efforts, as well as opportunities and downside risks for 2011.Assistant Secretary Miller serves the Treasury’s Financial Markets division. In her role, she advises the US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on broad matters of domestic finance, financial markets, federal, state and local finance, federal government credit policies, lending and privatisation. Deputy Assistant Secretary Rutherford is responsible for overseeing the Office of Debt Management, the policy arm of the Treasury Department that makes financing decisions.
The Dubai School of Government (DSG) is a research and teaching institution that focuses on public policy in the Arab world. Established in 2005 in cooperation with the Harvard Kennedy School, DSG aims to promote good governance through enhancing the region’s capacity for effective public policy.
