Potential.com, a leading international business development company, in partnership with Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, and RSA Insurance, recently hosted SME development workshop as part of its SME Evolution Programme.

The onsite event, entitled ‘Expand your Business to Reach New Heights,’ was aimed to enable business owners to discover the tools and opportunities available to expand their business. The participants also had the opportunity to meet a number of leaders and pioneers from the world of business. The workshop provided a platform for SMEs to get to know each other, as well as about the services offered by partners like Dubai SME and RSA Insurance.

Shadi Banna, Managing Partner, Potential.com, said: “Our partnership with RSA Insurance will, no doubt, give us a chance to reach a greater number and variety of business owners looking to expand their business in an innovative and creative way. RSA Insurance is one of the leading insurance companies and will serve as an additional pillar to the SME Evolution Programme by providing SME owners with targeted offers that will help them in their business needs. This introductory workshop is just what business owners need to reach their goals and true potential.”

“Dubai is grooming its entrepreneurial traditions into a complete environment that has varied SME-enabling systems, services and a strong governmental commitment. SMEs account for more than 95 per cent of the enterprise community in the emirate. Dubai SME is keen to expand our partnerships and promote knowledge-sharing so that SMEs continue to contribute substantially to local economic and human development,” said Farid Karmostaji, Director of Entrepreneur Development Division of Dubai SME.

David Harris, UAE Sales and Marketing Director, RSA Insurance, added: "The UAE Government has rightly identified the success of small enterprises as key to the continued development of the UAE economy and RSA Insurance look to support their initiatives with innovative products and propositions to protect the assets and liabilities of the small business sector. Sponsoring the SME Evolution Programme is one of our key steps to support SMEs in the region”.

Dubai SME and RSA Insurance joined more than 20 businesses including regional partners Aramex and STC of Saudi Arabia as well as top-notch international players such as Google, Intel, and AllWorld Network, an organisation established by Professor Michael E. Porter of the Harvard Business School, to mark the Spring rollout of the programme at the Dubai SME premises on 22 May 2012.
