Inaugural Transurban International Conference

Set to take place on 29 September to 3 October 2012 in Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah Dubai UAE, Inaugural Transurban International Conference is the first ever conference to outline problems with urban areas that are not properly integrated, the trends that are now changing the planning context and the solutions that are being shown to work.

The four day conference will debate a wide range of industry topics from coping with scattered land development to the cost of urban sprawl, increased urban growth and government adoption of carbon reduction goals. It features leading speakers from the global urban planning and transport sector including Robert Cervero, Jan Gehl and Edward Blakely and is designed to enable delegates to share best-practices and participate in interactive workshops discussing Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Pedestrian Oriented Development (POD) and Green Oriented Development (GOD) amongst others.

Dr. Peter Newman, keynote speaker, said, ‘The Inaugural Transurban International Conference is set to be the most talked about event on the Urban Planning calendar. Featuring the most prominent names from across the globe, we’ll be tackling industry issues with a real focus on working together to determine tangible answers to increasingly pressing topics, especially how Pan Arabic cities are adapting to the new agenda of resource scarcity.’

Expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates from around the world, ITIC is the first conference of its kind to bring together such an illustrious line-up of speakers, research fellows and practitioners in a single location. Included in the conference is a selection of tours visiting on-going projects offering attendees hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of project management from inception to implementation.

Dr. Faye, conference organizer, CEO,explained, ‘Dubai was the obvious choice when we looked at suitable locations for the event with its new Metro and several examples of good land use integration’
