New Parental Controls app allows parents to control their children’s BlackBerry smartphone
Blackberry launched new application, available to download from BlackBerry App World for customers running BlackBerry 6 or BlackBerry 7 OS on a BlackBerry Internet Subscription package (BIS), provides a simple interface for parents to restrict access to specific functions, features and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone such as the browser and camera; and limiting the phone to exclusively receive calls from phone numbers that exist in the contacts application.Examples of the restrictions you can set with Parental Controls include:
•Camera - A control to disable use of the camera for both still pictures and video. When attempting to launch the Camera application, the user would be provided with the message "Camera has been blocked."
•Phone - Limit the phone to receive calls only from phone numbers that exist in the Contacts application. This feature will block incoming phone calls from unknown callers.
Parental Controls also helps protect personal information, whether it is your children’s photos, BlackBerry PIN, or other personal data such as home address and phone number.
In addition to Parental Controls, BlackBerry App World offers content rating and filtering options for applications. Each item in the BlackBerry App World storefront is assigned a rating based on the audience that it is intended for.
Users can filter the content they see in BlackBerry App World, and lock their settings using a four-digit password.
