Focus on maintaining Dubai’s beauty
To achieve the strategic goal of Dubai Municipality in preservation of the aesthetic appearance of the city of Dubai the Building Department has intensified building inspections across the emirate of Dubai to ensure its compliance with the terms and regulations stipulated by the civic body. Eng. Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of Buildings Department, said that the move is aimed at ensuring the safety and good appearance of the buildings in line with the international standards and specifications.Currently the department is focusing on buildings in vital areas of the city especially areas seen through the red and green metro lines. All owners of old buildings or buildings under construction are notified through SMS and email to carryout necessary maintenance works, painting and reforming of frontage view..etc.
Eng. Jabir Ahmed Al Ali, Head of Building Inspection Section, said, "We appreciate the good cooperation of building owners and their prompt response to the instructions of civic body as they understand the importance of preserving the aesthetic view of a globally recognized metropolitan city like Dubai."
He also urged the owners of buildings expired, ruined or threatened in terms of safety measures to cooperate with the authority for its demolition or maintenance through a consultant approved by the municipality as soon as possible to avoid dangerous safety related issues.
Jabir said that the procedure to get maintenance permit will not take more than two working days as it can be processed through the electronic system of the buildings department through approved contractors and maintenance companies.
