Demand for electricity in UAE to exceed 40,000 megawatts by 2020

Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy said that the demand for power in the UAE will exceed to 40,000 megawatts by 2020 at a growing rate of 9 percent annually, pointing out that rate average is three times of the international energy demand average.

He made his remarks today on the occasion of the opening of New Nuclear International Conference (NNIC), which is hosted by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi Grand Canal from November 11-14.

The conference will bring together nuclear energy leaders from more than 40 countries to discuss the opportunities for new and developing nuclear energy programmes around the world, exploring all aspects of the nuclear energy lifecycle.
