The Walk at JBR
With annual visitor numbers reaching 12 million last year alone, The Walk now boasts 11 luxury hotels, including international hospitality brands Hilton, Sheraton and Ritz Carlton to cater to visitors from around the world. The Walk continues to maintain its position as one of the most vibrant tourist destinations in the UAE with the opening of three new hotels, including the Hilton serviced apartments, the Ramada Hotel and the Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham, to cater to the growing demand from international tourists in addition to seasonal visitors from around the GCC.Speaking about The Walk, DPG Group CEO Khalid Al Malik, said: "The Walk is a key tourist destination in the UAE and ongoing investment in the overall look and feel of The Walk, the introduction of new retail and dining brands and the establishment of additional attractions are designed to benefit residents and visitors whilst supporting our long term vision for The Walk to maintain its world class destination status in line with Dubai’s 2020 Tourism Vision."
The Walk is currently undergoing a major refresher which is designed to further improve the retail experience and to cement the iconic destination as an attraction for global tourists. Enhancements include new shaded areas to the many F&B and retail outlets along The Walk at street level, as well as improved streetscaping and access to the Plaza Level via escalators leading to new and enhanced retail facilities. In addition, there will also be significant upgrades made to the Plaza level areas at Bahar and Rimal to comprise new children’s play areas, as well as the creation of dedicated private areas for residents.
The Walk at JBR has also witnessed a number of third party launches recently, including The Beach project, a world-class entertainment and leisure addition to The Walk, comprising of retail outlets facing the seafront and 1,200 additional underground parking spaces. DPG is also working with the authorities to further enhance traffic management and pedestrian flows in and around The Walk by creating connectivity points for future planned stops for the Dubai Tram.
