Solar Energy Projects
United Arab Emirates announced the launch of the largest concentrated solar energy projects in the world, which is the first of its kind in the region, its equivalent to 300 football pitch, using 258 thousand mirrors. It is scheduled to contribute station «Shams 1» in the production of 100 MW of electric clean power enough to supply 20 thousand homes in the UAE, and the reduction of carbon emissions by approximately 175 thousand tons per year, equivalent to planting one million and a half million trees or removing 15 thousand cars of roads.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, who attended the launch of the project stressed that «Shams 1» concentrated solar power represents a significant achievement within the vision of the United Arab Emirates to diversify its economy and its energy resources, stressing his country's keenness and commitment to maintaining its distinguished as a major supplier of energy.
