How Lifebuoy Is Fighting Coronavirus In The Middle East
Unilever, one of the world’s most trusted brands, is taking the initiative to help fight the spread of coronavirus in the Middle East through physical and educational resources. Their Lifebuoy brand is working full-force in the gulf to help populations learn about proper handwashing procedures and offering resources to make this education actionable.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes that frequent handwashing is the number one defense against the spread of coronavirus. As such, WHO and other health agencies have noted that limited access to hygiene resources could make the spread of coronavirus inevitable in certain regions.
For this, Unilever’s Lifebuoy brand began an initiative to deploy portable handwashing stations around the gulf in public areas. The stations include a sink, Lifebuoy’s iconic hand soap and an educational panel that helps instruct users on the proper method to wash their hands thoroughly.
“Our teams have been active across the Gulf to provide education on handwashing, raise awareness about the current Coronavirus pandemic and make handwashing accessible in busy public areas.” - Lifebuoy
To assist in the fight against coronavirus, Lifebuoy also connected with key trade partners, retailers and schools in Kuwait to encourage frequent handwashing. Also, a part of this initiative was the Ministry of Interior Authority.
Lifebuoy’s mission stretched to Saudi Arabia, as well, where teams visited offices, hospitals and general public spaces to offer educational resources to the public about coronavirus, its dangers and how proper personal hygiene can limit the spread of this global pandemic.
In retail stores, Lifebuoy took the approach of social responsibility and engagement by installing photo booth activation stations that educate shoppers on handwashing and invite them to pledge to teach their friends and neighbors about the importance of handwashing during this pandemic.
In our most vulnerable communities, the refugee communities made up of men, women and children, whole families, Lifebuoy extended their handwashing lessons to ensure these communities can safeguard themselves against coronavirus and other infectious diseases. Children are taught at an early age about the importance of proper handwashing and how it can keep their families safe from disease.
On all fronts, Lifebuoy has made an effort to reach out to fellow brands, organizations and governmental agencies to promote the concept of cleanliness to help fight coronavirus and the continuous spread of this pandemic. From educational lessons and physical resources that make what is learned actionable, to social engagement, Lifebuoy has spearheaded an initiative for social responsibility, tackling the problems of infection spreading at the source, education, resources and engagement.
