iZone Wireless Internet
What is an iZone? iZone are those venues as coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, airports and exhibitions halls, among others, in the UAE where you can access broadband Internet through the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Since data is received and transmitted on radio signals, instead of wires, you are free from wires dangling around you! Is iZone the same as a Hotspot? Yes, it is. The term Hotspot is becoming popular to refer to a Wi-Fi access point location that is available in a public location (away from your home or office). How does iZone work? Each iZone is installed with wireless access points. The access points emit radio frequencies that will be picked up by the Wi Fi enabled laptop, PDA or Tablet PC if you are within the coverage of the signal, ranging from 50 feet to 300 feet from the access point. Upon logging into the network, you will be able to access the Internet. What are the devices I need for iZone? All you need is a Wi Fi enabled device such as a laptop computer, PDA, tablet PC or any other Internet access device. If your device does not have a built-in Wi Fi capability, you may use the standard Wireless LAN card available at computer stores. Is a Wi-Fi connection secure? Whenever you communicate over the Internet using a wired or wireless connection, there is a risk that hackers may try to intercept your e-mails, files and data, or use your Internet connection to distribute their own messages and communications. Etisalat implement security procedures and measures based on encryption only during the process of authenticating the end user for the purpose of logging into the WLAN Network. Etisalat provides no encryption of data or security in any other form for Internet usage beyond the stage of authentication. How fast is Wi-Fi? The speed of the connection you receive on your Wi-Fi device will vary and is affected by several factors including: the number of active users at a hotspot, the distance your device is from the access point, any obstructions that are blocking your signal, the model of Wi-Fi card and software you are using on your device and the speed of the wired line that connects to the access point. Generally, Wi-Fi signals transmit reasonably well through glass and many wall types, but they do not transmit well through metal, concrete or buildings.Do you guarantee the bandwidth or Quality of Service?
