His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance & Industry, President of Al Nasr Sports Club, rendered unlimited support to the Club and enabled it to have a distinctive standing among all the club of the country. H. H. has in mind all the requirement and aspirations of the club and does his level best to eliminate all difficulties and obstacles in the path of all for the purpose of achieving administrative and technical stability which he regards the basis of development. Al Nasr Great History Al Nasr (meaning “victory”) was founded in 1945 in Mohamed Ali Zaina’s land in Al Gubaibah by a group of young men with a strong vision and passion for creating the team. A resolution was issued three years later which transformed the team into a club with a clear vision and mission and this was when Al Nasr, as we know it today, was born. From that moment Al Nasr was embedded into the sporting history of the UAE as a club that pioneered the way for its communities to create sporting champions. 1945. The players gathered in the house of Mohammed Ali Zanel in an area called Al Ghubaiba (Almur Bin Haraias, Atiq Bin Ahmed Almirri, Aqil Mohammed Saleh, Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla, Thni Bin Essa, Majid Bin Khalfan, Mohammed Abdulrahman Khansahib, Abdul Wahab GallaDari). 1948. A decision was made to establish a club which will have rules and regulations for membership with contributions from its members, companies, donations and selling footballs. They were wearing Jerseys with both red and white stripes. • Newer players joined the club and they were considered as the establishers of the club and their names are (Abdul Rahman Al Rustmani, Mohammed Abdullah Al Sarukh, Bin Oqal, Abdul Wahad Al Rustmani, Jumma Al Farad, Mirza Abdulleh, Mohammed Saeed Alghaith, Salem Bin Touq). The club was named Al Ahli Club. The Royal British Airlines R.A.F. wanted to play against people of Dubai, when they new that they play football, that’s why the club was named Al Ahli Club. The R.A.F. team played the first match against Al Ahli. Al Ahli lost 8-0 and since then the British army supported the club with footballs and jerseys in order to continue playing till they become a good rivals and the club was located in Dubai where currently the Central Bank is located. • Matches were continued with the British Army and there were other teams from the petroleum companies in jabel Ali and few teams from the British Navy who were the visitors to Dubai and the British consultate was arrangeing the matches for the British Navy. A Successful History Al Nasr won nine major trophies in its football history. The most successful period came in the ‘80s winning six trophies including the League, President’s Cup, Federation’s Cup, and Asian Super cup.
