How to get an Indian visa if you are from UAE

Did you know that UAE is one of the 150 countries whose citizens can apply for an Indian visa just by using the internet? If not, then you have a lot to learn. Nowadays traveling is made easy by multiple things, and technology is one of them. So if you live in UAE and plan on going to India anytime soon, here is what you need to do in order to obtain an Indian e-visa.

The required documentation

The process is quite straightforward, but you still need some documents at hand. There is nothing out of the ordinary, and the documents you need do not differ from the ones you need when you go to apply for a visa at the Indian Embassy. That being said, here is what you need.

  • A valid passport (if you have a passport and it is about to expire, make sure that you remedy the issue. If you do not have one at all, just know that you can find passport photos online as well.
  • An information page scan of your passport
  • A digital photo of yourself (preferably recent)
  • A credit/debit card or a Paypal account

That is the basic, but if you travel for business or medical reasons, you will need something else as well. For the business visa, you will be asked a copy of your business card and an invitation letter (the latter is not mandatory), and for the medical visa, you will also be required to have a medical letter from the hospital you are attending in India.

What is next?

Once you gathered the documentation, you can move forward to the application itself. You do not have to print anything becausethe form is online. First, you have to fill in your basic information like name, gender, passport number, etc. That should take you approximately five minutes. Then you have to answer a set of personal questions and upload the documents listed above.

After you do all that, you need to choose the processing time. Keep in mind that your choice will affect the price of the visa, so think about what you need. You can choose from three processing times. The Standard Processing will release your visa in three working days, the Rush Processing takes a single business day, and the Super Rush Processing means you will have your visa in as little as 18 hours.

Are the costs high?

The answer to that question depends on how you value your time. You will have to pay a fee, which will differ for every type of visa and processing time, but you are not required to waste time at the Indian Embassy. Time is, for most people, a lot more valuable than the cost of a visa. That being said, if you apply for a tourist visa, your bill will be of 87$ with standard processing. Rush processing and super rush processing will cost you 117$ and 152$ respectively. If you apply for a business visa or a medical one, the price will be 97$, 127$, and 162$ respectively (different processing times.)

Conclusion

The fact that you can apply for a visa from the comfort of your home or from the office is innovative. It saves you time and trouble, and that alone is worth a great deal. Surely more countries will follow India’s example, and we will be able to get the proper documentation without even getting out of the house.
