UAE Boasts One Of World’s Smartest Governments: International Official
The UAE's hosting of MENA's first ever international conference for internal auditing is a testament to the dynamic efforts being made by the government to apply best practices in areas of corporate governance and combatting money laundering and corruption, according to an international official. Richard Chambers, the CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), made the statements at a news conference at the close of the 7th edition of the Internal Auditors Conference hosted by the UAE Internal Auditing Association to review Dubai preparations for hosting the IIA International?al Conference, to be organised by the emirate on May 6-9 under the sponsorships of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The international official said that the UAE has 45 percent of total internal auditors working in the region, estimated at 7000, a fact which he said corroborates the paramount importance the UE government attaches to the significant role assumed by internal auditors and their telling contributions to the development drive adopted by the country and which is based on sound corporate governance practices, smart models, and artificial intelligence.
Chamber noted that the UAE has been a long way toward becoming one of the world's smartest governments.
For his part, Abdulqader Obaid Ali, President, UAE Internal Auditors Association, said UAE internal auditors account for 22 percent of the total auditors working in the country.
He pointed out that the three-day conference will be the largest of its kind in the world and is et to attract around 3000 international officials and experts in the field form different world countries, including prime ministers, diplomats, business analysts and international auditors who will shed extensive light on a set of key issues related to the fast-paced transformational changes the international economy is going through, including the emergence of new professions and disappearance of others.
"The event will spotlight the impact of technology on corporate performance and cyber threats to the global economy as well as many other issues of close relevance to informatics and artificial intelligence," he added.
