The Dubai School of Government yesterday launched the first in a series of workshops for senior executives of the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA), as part of the 20-month Frontiers Leadership Development Programme.
The workshop held in cooperation with the JF Kennedy School of Government’s Ash Institute, Harvard, US, addresses innovations in governance with the aim of developing leadership skills. The training is in line with the government’s strategy to achieve world class performance and service quality across all its departments.
Inaugurated by Professor Gowher Rizvi, Director, Ash Institute for Democratic Government and Innovation, the first day covered sessions on creating public value and infrastructure development, in addition to presenting case studies on strategic management.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO, DEWA, said: “We aim to continually develop the human resource capabilities within the organisation. Dubai School of Government has built a strong reputation over the years and its support is vital to achieving our goals.

He added: “The programme is structured to complement existing work commitments, allowing participants to continue functioning at the workplace and applying their learning immediately.” The workshop will cover private-public partnerships, e-government, negotiations in conflict management, as well as case studies on innovations in governance.
