advertisement info

The popularity of Arabic cuisines among Dubai’s residents and visitors will be on display at the Arabic Cuisine show being organized at the BurJuman Centre on Sunday (July 9th) from 6 pm onwards as part of the DSS-2006 Food Surprises theme week.

This will be the last of the three cuisine shows of the Dubai Cuisine Festival. Asian and European cuisine shows were held at the Mall of the Emirates, sponsored by Nestle and Better Life, respectively.

The Arabic Cuisine segment is being conducted by Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, part of the Jumeirah hospitality group which has been a great supporter of the DTCM initiatives for the DSS over the years.

Mr. Abdin Nasrallah, General Manager, Bab Al Shams, said: “Our chefs will offer a wide variety of traditional and popular Arabic cuisines at the event which is expected to attract hundreds of people from different nationalities and age groups.” Bab Al Shams chefs will be preparing a selection of representative and popular cuisines from various Arabian Gulf states and other parts of the Middle East and North Africa region. The whole exercise is to introduce a larger number of people from the outside world to the Arab world’s culinary delights.

BurJuman Centre visitors of the day will have the opportunity to watch the cooking demonstrations for the Arabic cuisines in addition to gaining further knowledge about the Arabic food world.

He thanked the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) for the opportunity extended to Bab Al Shams for presenting such a programme.

Food Surprises theme week is organized by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS-2006). More than 600 chefs from 42 hotels of five and four-star categories are behind the Food Surprises theme week activities.

A variety of programmes are being conducted each evening until July 12 at five of Dubai’s most-frequented shopping malls - Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, BurJuman, Deira City Centre and Mercato.

Backed by AED5 million budget, Food Surprises has an impressive lineup of more than 300 activities which are a combination of entertainment and education for the people of different nationalities and age groups.

DTCM Manager Events and Chairman of Food Surprises Committee, Mr. Marwan bin Beyat, said: “Variety is the spice of life and what we are presenting will certainly please all. It has been our endeavor to make this year’s events attractive to people of all ages and different cultures.” Braun, Better Life and Siemens joined the DTCM as sponsors this year in addition to the long-time partners - Jumeirah, Emirates Culinary Guild, Intercontinental Hotel Dubai, Bab Al Shams, Nestle, Abela and Paris Gallery. The Food Surprises is also being supported by Park Hyatt, Grosvenor House, Kempinski Mall of the Emirates and Chelsea. Avari Dubai and Lotus hotels joined for the first time.
