Dubai One’s Series Slate Unveiled (12 October 2009)

Old Favourites and New Flavour Add Boost to Fall TV Lineup

Dubai One, the UAE’s favourite English-language television station, has unveiled its lineup of fabulous series ranging from the dramatic to the downright hilarious. Tune in to catch the best of international programmes in Autumn 2009!

Currently the most-watched programme in the world, The Bold and the Beautiful is the saga of the rich fashion mogul Forresters and the poor Logans. Viewers can follow the ups and downs of the Forresters’ stormy marriage and the chaotic lives of their children, while the rival Logan family battles its own skeletons in the closet. A colourful cast of rascals continue to bring death, divorce, alcoholism, duplicity, betrayal and even returns from the dead that have captivated audiences around the world for 22 years.

Equally compelling in human drama, West Wing (Series 7) follows Democrat Josiah ’Jed‘ Bartlet, a newly elected US president installing his administration. The power plays begin among the White House staff and even the President’s family as they respond to the demands of office, compromising their ideals, tactically maneuvering and solving crisis after crisis in the centre of world politics.

Emmy Award-winner/actor/comedian Chris Rock narrates a hilarious and touching story of a teenager growing up in Brooklyn, New York, in Everybody Hates Chris Series 2. Chris’ dreams of being a cool teenager, die when his mother forces him to bus across town to a fiercely Italian neighborhood, where he must rely on his sharp, scrappy wit and character to survive. Curb Your Enthusiasm (CYE) brings back grouchy yet loveable Larry David, the socially underdeveloped co-creator of the beloved Seinfeld series. CYE has gained a following around the world for an unflinching, self-depreciating depiction of David’s life as a rich producer with a loving wife who has the social skills of a spoilt child. Twenty Good Years follows two New Yorkers who have finally realized that life doesn’t last forever. Mismatched buddies John and Jeffrey are polar opposites who vow to live each day as if it were their last, despite the consequences…when age meets anarchy, there’s no time for regrets!

In The Closer, Deputy Police Chief Brenda Johnson (played by Emmy Award winner Kyra Sedgwick) runs the Priority Homicide Division of the LAPD with an unorthodox style. Her innate emotional empathy helps her and her team solve the city’s toughest, most sensitive cases. Veronica Mars Series 2 Veronica Mars’ best friend has been murdered, and her father removed as town sheriff, but that is not going to stop Veronica Mars from cracking the toughest mysteries in the affluent town of Neptune. In C.S.I Miami Series 5, former homicide detective Horatio Caine heads a group of investigators in steamy Miami. His team includes a sultry, beautiful Southern ballistics specialist, a cocky yet disarming investigator with street tries, an underwater recovery expert and a no-nonsense, know-it-all coroner. Together, they vindicate those who cannot speak for themselves -- the victims.

Happy Hour follows Tulley, a literary star-turned-ad copywriter whose life is a murky morass of booze and cynicism. Can Levine, his best friend, and Natalie, the woman who loves him, save him from himself? In The Class, Ethan throws a surprise party for his girlfriend Joan, whom he met in third grade, and invites their long-lost classmates. After an awkward beginning, new friendships are made and rivalries rekindled as the classmates remember the little kids that they knew so long ago. In How I Met your Mother, a long-time bachelor scrambles to find a bride—any bride—as a reaction to his best friend’s upcoming nuptials.
