Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the pioneering media organizations and creative services groups in the Middle East, today announced a US delegation visited its premises as part of a Middle East tour to visit top industry leaders and learn about how businesses are conducted in the region.
Comprising members from the Young Arab Leaders - Arab American Business Fellowship (YAL-AABF), the delegation’s visit recognised DMI’s dual role in the private sector and as an active contributor to the government of Dubai’s strategic objectives for the media sector.
The YAL-AABF is a partnership between the Young Arab Leaders (YAL), Business for Diplomatic Action (BDA), the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy (USCCD), and the National US Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC). AABF encourages the development of a dialogue between Arab business executives and their American counterparts, creating an environment for informed opinions and knowledge flow in both directions.
Najla Al Awadhi, General Manager of Dubai One and CEO of DMI Channels, received the US delegation along with other senior officials and department members. Offering a brief history on Dubai as well as a background on DMI’s growth, she also led a discussion about how the media operates in the region. An interactive Q&A session was also conducted during which the visitors learnt more about the media landscape, women’s rights and leadership in the Middle East.
Najla Al Awadhi said: “It was wonderful to host the US-delegation at our premises. The YAL-AABF members showed keen interest in the dynamics of a progressive organisation such as DMI. The visitors were particularly impressed with our commitment to disseminating accurate information and our endeavour to showcase the region’s rich cultural nuances through our channel platforms.
“We look forward to welcoming more such delegations to establish a better understanding between cultures and bridge relations with other countries. It is also in line with our mission to showcase Dubai’s image to the world as a leading media hub for the region. We are confident our visitors have taken back with them first-hand information on DMI, Dubai and the UAE at large that will eventually be translated among the US media.”
During the visit, the delegation toured DMI’s state-of-the-art Master Control Rooms (MCR) and studios, where they were introduced to the latest technologies and methods DMI employs for high-quality broadcasting.
Launched in 2007, the Fellowship is a programme aspiring to train as well as develop the skills of promising young leaders from the Middle East and the US through two key elements - education and learning. It is in line with YAL’s goal to created employment opportunities by developing education, leadership, and entrepreneurship skills in the Arab Youth.
As an established regional leader in the broadcast media sector, DMI constantly seeks opportunities to exchange experiences with other globally prominent media organizations for the overall benefit of the community and facilitate the development of the fast-growing regional media industry.
