Organisers of the SwissOpenAir cinema have finally announced the two secret Bollywood premiers to be shown on the world’s largest outdoor movie screen in the Media City Amphitheatre starting tonight.
The first Bollywood special is the long awaited De Dana Dan, and will be playing on Tuesday, December 1st with doors opening at 7pm.
The second Bollywood surprise night comes next Sunday, December 6, when Dubai’s Bollywood lovers will have the chance to see Paa in the exciting atmosphere of the Open-air Outdoor Movie Cinema.
“The Bollywood nights are a highlight of the season and we’re expecting a huge turnout for the premiers of these two movies,” said Farzin Samadian, CEO of SwissOpenAir Concept. “Last year the Bollywood nights were among the most popular and we’re looking forward to repeating that magic again this year.”
De Dana Dan is a fast paced comedy film directed by the much celebrated Priyadarshan staring includes Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suniel Shetty) are only lucky in love, otherwise their life is a big zero as is their bank balance. But now their rich girlfriends have given them an ultimatum – earn enough money so that we can elope or forget us forever. Broke and desperate, Nitin and Ram need to make big money and fast.
In Paa, 67-year-old Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan plays a 13-year-old suffering from progeria, a rare condition that causes premature ageing among children. The movie received rave reviews in India and has been described by its director, R. Balakrishnan, as a very rare father-son son-father story.
“We are very proud to have the honour of screening these movies at our cinema, I invite everyone who loves Bollywood to come down and enjoy a very special night hosted by Zee TV.”
The Cinema began its 2009 season last week and was full to bursting with over 2000 movie lovers on its opening night, which hosted the UAE premier of Twilight Saga: New Moon.
“It was incredibly successful; a great night with an amazing atmosphere and most of the crowd stayed on into the night, well after the film finished to be entertained by the Red Bull DJ.”
