High-Profile International And Regional Speakers To Offer Amazing Presentations At BOLD 2010 Conference In Dubai
(29 April 2010)
First Carbon Neutral Conference in Middle East. BOLDtalks to Donate Proceeds from Sale of Tickets to Children in Palestine through UAE Red Crescent.

BOLDtalks FZE, a UAE-based event management company, today announced high-profile international speakers including some of the world’s most renowned scientists, doctors, archaeologists, artists, activists, journalists and adventurers will present fascinating discussions on diverse intellectual topics at the BOLD 2010 annual conference in Dubai.

To be held on 1 May at the Dubai Community Theater and Art Center (DUCTAC) in the Mall of the Emirates, the inaugural initiative from BOLDtalks will also be the first carbon neutral conference in the Middle East and aim to raise awareness on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will be donated to the children’s cause in Gaza through the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

Riz Khan, renowned news anchor from Al Jazeera International, will take centre-stage at BOLD 2010 as the moderator and key note speaker.

The session will witness panelists such as the celebrated photographer Steve McCurry elaborating on his 2002 quest with a National Geographic team in Afghanistan to locate the subject of one of the world’s most recognized photographs – the ‘Afghani Girl’; independent historian of archeology Michael Cremo presenting an alternative to Darwin’s theory of evolution that is met with much controversy by mainstream scientists, and senior Theoretical Physicist at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Dr. John Ellis offering insights into The Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest and the most powerful subatomic particle accelerator.

Tamer Nahas, Executive Director, BOLDtalks, said: “BOLD 2010 will challenge the audience with an experience to learn and understand disciplines vastly different from their own. The event will witness an exciting generation of ideas given the fact that it is bringing together some of the world’s best minds from completely diverse fields.”

From the UAE, Dr. Nisar Wani, who heads the Reproductive Biology Laboratory at Camel Reproduction Center in Dubai, will elucidate the efforts behind the world’s first cloned camel (Injaz) in Dubai. Dr. Melanie Schlatter, a Dubai-based psychologist and lecturer, will examine key studies from medical literature that highlight the supremacy of the mind over the intimidating nature of illness and disease, and how human thoughts have the capability to harness even beyond the imagination. Elham Al Qasimi, the first Arab woman from the UAE currently attempting an unassisted and unsupported expedition to the North Pole, will share her experiences in undertaking the challenging mission.

Steve Sosebee will join other speakers to tell the audience of his own personal account of befriending a 10-year-old triple-amputee back in 1990 for free care in the US, which led to the creation of Palestinian Children Relief Fund (PCRF), one of the region’s most active and effective relief organizations.

As part of its endeavour to highlight the topic of global warming, BOLD 2010 has partnered with Ecobility, a UAE-based clean technology
company, to
monitor, reduce and offset all carbon emissions
associated with
BOLD
2010.

In addition to Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Center (DUCTAC), BOLD 2010 is also sponsored by Bentley Emirates, Flip Media interactive agency, Arjaan by Rotana Dubai, Traffik360, Bayt.com, Ecobility, Al Jazeera Network, Arabian Radio Network and JiWin Public Relations.

Tickets for this event are available at DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates, or through the event website www.bold2010.com.

BOLDtalks events are used as platforms to raise awareness on some of today’s most critical issues such as environment, humanitarian crisis, illnesses and various social issues. Reaching out to the community, raising awareness on global warming and on humanitarian crisis in the Middle East are all examples of BOLD 2010’s platform to achieve ‘good things’ on many levels.
