DTCM And Hotel Show Sign Strategic Partnership Deal
(20 December 2010)
Dubai Government’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing signs strategic partnership agreement with premier showcase for suppliers to hospitality industry

The Dubai Government - Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has entered into an agreement with dmg::events in Dubai the organisers of The Hotel Show to become strategic partners for the 2011 hospitality showcase which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 17-19 May.

“The objective of the partnership is primarily to promote Dubai as a key destination hub and pool resources in a joint effort to support the local hospitality industry as well as regional and international participants,” commented Jerad Bachar, Director, Dubai Convention Bureau, the congress and exhibition section of the DTCM.

According to the agreement the DTCM will offer its considerable expertise, suggesting topics and providing expert speakers for the Seven Star Conference which runs alongside The Hotel Show exhibition. Furthermore, a DTCM executive will sit on an advisory board to help shape the content for the event. In addition, the DTCM will also promote the event to its industry partners, through its website and on relevant marketing material.

“The DTCM has an enviable profile around the world and provides considerable support for all stakeholders in Dubai’s hospitality sector. Their support will be invaluable to us, especially their experience of not only attending and participating in many international events, but their expertise in marketing Dubai as a business and leisure destination,” said, Frederique Maurell, Event Director, The Hotel Show.

The accord comes at a time when a report by industry analyst Deloitte, suggested that Dubai’s hotel room inventory will increase by an estimated 60% or 30,000 taking the total to 80,000 hotel rooms by 2015. Regionally, Tophotelprojects.com, meanwhile, reports that the Middle East and East Asia has EUROS 58.9 billion earmarked for first class and luxury hotel projects.

“Clearly this is good news for suppliers to the hospitality industry at a time when particularly up-market hotel developments in other more mature markets are stalling, some through a lack of available finance and others due to deteriorating revenue projections,” added Maurell.

Thanks to the protracted hotel development pipeline, The Hotel Show 2011 is expecting solid 20% growth led in part by participation from countries including China, Germany, the UK, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and Greece.

The main exhibition is split into four sectors; Interiors & Design; Security & Technology; The Resort Experience; and Operating Equipment & Supplies, each housing a number of new subsectors, including green energy supplies, front of house reservation systems and light catering equipment.
