DED And DTCM Sign Agreement To Advance Sustainable Development

The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) have signed a co-operation agreement to drive Dubai Government’s strategy and vision in developing various economic sectors, meet the requirements of the business sector, and promote sustainable development.

As per the agreement, electronic connectivity will be provided for DTCM to review data related to tourism licenses issued by DED, as well as business registration eServices such as transaction status, reservation of trade name, initial approvals, payment of fees and printing of licenses. DTCM, in turn, will provide DED with its general enquiry system about tourist facilities, all data related to such facilities, and information and studies related to tourism for economic studies.

Sami Dhaen Al Qamzi, Director General of DED; and Khalid Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Director General of the DTCM, signed the agreement recently in the attendance of officials from both sides.

"The agreement is in line with the ongoing efforts of government institutions to work together and achieve Dubai’s strategic goals. It is in line with the leadership’s vision of promoting sustainable development in the Emirate, and strengthening Dubai’s position as a preferred investment destination. The partnership with DTCM underlines our commitment to provide customers with high quality services," said Al Qamzi.

"The Department of Economic Development is mandated to plan and drive the economic growth of Dubai, and the performance of the different sectors including tourism. DED will assist investors by coordinating with other government departments and authorities in achieving the goal of simplifying rules and regulations to set up businesses," he added.

Khalid Ahmed Bin Sulayem said: "The agreement will support the vision of the Dubai Government to enhance high-quality services provided to customers, which has been achieved through the increase in the number of eGovernment services and the technology available to raise levels of customer satisfaction." He added: "Through its vision to establish Dubai as a leading tourist destination, DTCM is committed to apply international best practices that guarantee value-added services. The tourism sectors further enhances Dubai’s economy as it contributes directly to the city’s GDP." As per the agreement, the two parties will co-operate in the field of inspection and compliance, and exchange knowledge, ideas, expertise and institutional experiences at all levels to improve the performance of joint operations. The two organisations will also participate, cooperate and exchange experiences through exhibitions and internal and external workshops.
