International SOS Expands Its Operations In Dubai Airport Freezone
(29 April 2012)

International SOS - the world’s leading healthcare, medical and security services provider based in London and Singapore celebrated the expansion of its regional headquarters in Dubai Airport Freezone, the Middle East’s fastest growing free zone.

The official inauguration was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of Dubai Airport Freezone alongside other higher officials, and International SOS co-founders Dr. Pascal Rey-Herme, Group Medical Director and Arnaud Vaissié, Chairman & CEO.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Zarooni, said: “I would like to congratulate Dr. Rey-Herme, Group Medical Director and Arnaud Vaissié, Chairman & CEO of International SOS, for the tremendous development and commercial partnership we have witnessed with the company over the last six years.

“Throughout this time we have established ourselves as an efficient and effective service provider in order to become the first choice partner for international businesses looking to strategically locate their operations in the Middle Eastern, African and Central Asian markets. The progress and expansion of International SOS demonstrates the success of this global leader in healthcare, medical and security services in the Middle East, but also reflects the spirit and dedication of Dubai Airport Freezone and of its first-class facilities and services,” he added.

International SOS expanded into Dubai in 2005, providing integrated medical, clinical, security, and customer care solutions to organizations, governments and corporations with regional and international operations. The company operates from over 700 remote sites in 70 countries such as China, Hong Kong, Brazil, Qatar, Canada, Kazakhstan, India, Yemen, France, Angola, Nigeria and many others, and currently employs approximately 10,000 employees, led by 1,100 physicians and 200 security specialists.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Arnaud Vaissié said: “We opened our Middle East office at the Dubai Airport Freezone six years ago when we established an International Regional Center to support the growth of our clients. At the time, our organization had only three employees in Dubai, and six years later, the International SOS team has grown to reach 130 staff from 35 nationalities.

“Today, we are here to celebrate the extension of our International SOS regional headquarters. This has been an important milestone for us for which I would like to thank the entire Dubai Airport Freezone team for contributing to our success through the outstanding, professional and customer oriented services and facilities that they provide to their tenants,” he added.

The pharmaceutical & medical sector represents more than 5 percent of the total investments in the Dubai Airport Freezone, including the likes of Johnson & Johnson and Actavis. The Freezone offers a unique advantage for the healthcare and security services sector due to its excellent location both as a city centre base and its proximity to international markets in the east and west. Currently, Singapore represents the top 10 countries within the Freezone with 27 companies already operating across textile, oil and gas, electrical and engineering sectors. These sectors benefit from the Freezone’s unsurpassed logistics advantages to businesses depending on quick shipments delivery because of its location next to the Dubai International Airport.
