GITEX Shopper 2012 is set to break new records next week when the region’s biggest consumer IT and electronics retail show opens the doors at its new venue -- the Dubai World Trade Centre. Taking place earlier this year, the show will run from 29 September – 6 October 2012, with longer shopping hours to accommodate the almost 175,000 visitors expected during the eight day sales extravaganza.
The show’s new central location offers more parking, food and beverage outlets and its own dedicated Metro Station just steps away from the show, providing the ultimate convenience for all visitors and shoppers.
The move has also enabled continued show growth with GITEX Shopper occupying 35,000 square metres of space including an impressive 25% increase in retail space to allow exhibitors to showcase an unprecedented 30,000 gadgets and the latest cutting-edge products.
More than 120 companies will participate including many of the world’s top brands who are first time participants. These include Acer, Asus, Ferrari Headphones, HTC, LG, Nestle, Toshiba and Western Digital. In addition, top consumer brands such as Bose, Canon, Dell, Epson, Fujifilm, HCL, HP, Intel, Lexar, Nikon, Nintendo, Samsung, Seagate and Toshiba will be showcasing their latest products and offering exceptional value across the board.
Both local and regional retailers and distributors expect strong returns on their participation at this year’s show, with leading power retailers such as Al Falak, Al Sayegh, CompuME, E-City, EMAX, Etisalat, Geekay Games, iSTYLE, Jacky’s Electronics, Jumbo Electronics, Plug-Ins, Sharaf DG, Tarsam, Touchmate and V.V. & Sons using GITEX Shopper as a key selling platform.
Commenting on their participation Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of GITEX Shopper 2012 said: “With the continued growth of the UAE consumer electronics market, platforms such as GITEX Shopper offer retailers and distributors an invaluable additional shop window for their businesses to promote new products and drive sales. The move to Dubai World Trade Centre facilitates this growth by providing additional space, ease of access and added convenience to enhance the visitor experience.”
Local retail giants E-city, E-max, Jacky’s, Jumbo Electronics, Plug-Ins and Sharaf DG have invested in additional exhibition space to enable them to offer an even bigger selection of products and special offers.
Added value has always been the mainstay of GITEX Shopper, with exclusive show offers, bundled deals and exciting competitions and this year is no exception with the show exhibitors and organiser giving away more than AED 50 million worth of prizes, including a 2013 Ford Mustang.
GITEX Shopper brings some exciting action to this year’s event, with activities such as the Intel Excited Temptations competition measuring visitors’ level of excitement and hi-octane dance moves to win Intel-powered Ultrabooks. Visitors both young and old will enjoy the interactive and energetic outdoor gaming zone, hosted by HP and celebrity radio DJs Priti Malik and Big Rossi who will up the tempo and get the crowds in festival mode.
Visitors can also test their gaming prowess in the ‘Alienware Experience Zone’, a gaming paradise set up by Dell and CompuMe to showcase the most popular Alienware gaming products and have the chance to go into ‘battle’ against members of the renowned Ukrainian multi-gaming e-sports organisation, Navi.
