The 1st Arab World Conference on Public Health, promises to bring together leaders in public health from different Arab countries as well as health experts across the globe to discuss critical issues in Public Health in the region.

The congress will be held under the patronage of Dubai Health Authority in collaboration with the World Federation of Public Health Associations and supported by Health Minister’s Council for Cooperative Council States and Emirate Medical Association at Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dubai from 4th until 6th April 2013.

Dubai Health Authority aims to promote the theme of the congress - ‘Towards excellence in Public Health: Opportunities and Challenges in the Arab World’ in order to bring the Arab World together in public health services and in minimizing disparity.

Ms. Laila Al Jassmi, Chairperson of the steering committee, CEO - Health Policy and Strategy Sector of the Dubai Health Authority, highlighted that in addition to the constantly increasing rate of communicable disease, the Arab World today is faced with a growing rate of non-communicable diseases and injuries like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and cancer. “The objective of the congress is to serve as a forum for exchange of knowledge, experience and success stories on key public health issues in Arab countries, as well as facilitate and support the development of the Arab World Public Health Association (AWPHA)”, she added.

The Arab World Conference on Public Health aims to enhance the competence of the workforce responsible for public health functions both within and outside the health sector in all countries and will be welcoming public health leaders, medical professionals, service providers, NGOs, advocates, trainers and students, both locally and internationally.

Abstracts and posters dealing with major issues related to promoting world class public health services, opportunities and threats will be presented by participants during the course of the congress.
