The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships continued its ongoing support of tennis development programs in the country by hosting the WTA Week Tennis Emirates Coaching Clinic Tuesday.
Over 100 aspiring young tennis players, aged 7 and 8 took to the courts at the Dubai Duty Free Stadium. Practicing a number of drills, the children also received professional tips from top WTA players, Sorana Cirstea and Alicja Rosolska. Excited to be playing in Dubai, the players were on hand to share some of their winning techniques with the participants. Joining them were the number 1 UAE national player, Omer Behrouzyan along with fellow athlete Hamad Abbas who shared their experience with the sport, motivating the children to work hard to achieve their goals on and off the court.
The children are members of the UAE Junior Development Program, which provides tennis lessons as part of the physical education program in schools. Under the guidance of UAE Junior National Team Coach, Hichem Bramely, these dedicated sessions help build the children’s confidence with the sport while developing the local tennis talent in the region.
Mr. Abdulrahman Falaknaz, Vice-President of Tennis Emirates commented, “We are very pleased at the outcome of the program, when we have over 200 local kids playing tennis regularly it makes us hope for a better future.
