BurJuman Brings Back A Real Treat For Foodies With 5 Days Of Fabulous Cuisine, Classes And Competitions
(28 April 2013)
Second edition of malls’ world food fest promises a sizzling line-up of master classes, workshops, competitions and fun events in a delicious culinary celebration

Foodies rejoice! The second edition of ‘Treat’ – the BurJuman World Food Fest – is back from May 14th - 18th, with a tempting selection of events, activities and, of course, plenty of delicious food.

The annual food festival ‘Treat’, which made it debut last September, once again brings an aromatic and appetising mix of cooking master classes, demonstrations by celebrity chefs, consumer competitions, food sampling and lots more.

Starting off the mouth-watering program is super celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor who will share his culinary secrets and tips – as well as his delectable Indian dishes – with guests in the opening day’s celebrity master class and live cooking demos.

The five-day festival will see foodies able to participate in masterclasses and watch live cooking demos by some of the best chefs in the business from the top hotel groups in the city. The Dubai Mariott Hotels will give masterclasses and demos on international cuisine, while the chefs from Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah will share their secrets on Italian cuisine. Chefs from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, will take guests through a Vietnamese and German menu while the team from the Meliá Dubai will demonstrate the intricacies of Indian cuisine. Masterclasses and demonstrations in Arabic food will be conducted, quite aptly, by chefs from the home-grown Rotana Group.

While the palates of grown-ups are being tickled with the best tastes and aromas, the kids will certainly not be left behind. At the “Kids’ Corner by Kitsch Cupcakes” young guests can learn easy cake decorating tricks and enjoy fun food games as parents participate in culinary contests and discover the art of cooking up dishes from around the globe.

There’ll also be plenty of chances for visitors to walk home with some great prizes in entertaining and enjoyable competitions such as “Guest the Ingredients” and “Fastest Potato Peeler”, giving visitors the chance to show off their own prowess in the kitchen.

For those with a sweet tooth, there’s a tempting ‘all you can eat’ buffet where guests can feast on sweets at a reduced price.

“Dubai is a food-lover’s paradise and ‘Treat’ celebrates the best of what the city has to offer in terms of variety, quality and culinary creativity in a fun way that lets everyone in on the action. The festival was a huge success last year because it was the very first one of its kind in the city to offer visitors an interactive opportunity to get top-quality instruction from some of the city’s best chefs for free,” says Abbasa Hameed, Marketing Support Manager, BurJuman.

“There’s something fun to learn, taste and try everyday and we are sure the second edition is going to once again have something to appeal to everyone’s taste,” she added.

Visitors will be able to enjoy five evenings of masterclasses, live cooking demos, food samples and displays from May 14th-18th. The food fest will continue with another highlight on the city’s culinary calendar – the coming together of the city’s most promising young chefs in the BurJuman Junior Chef of the Year which will be organised by BurJuman in association with The Emirates Culinary Guild from May 19th-25th.
