German pianist Andreas Woyke and vibrant cellist Friedrich Kleinhapl will showcase their exceptional skills and talent as a duo by performing musical works of perfection by some of the world’s most renowned composers on 14 May 2013 at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre in Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, UAE.
The Duo will perform: Sonata for Violoncello and Piano No. 3 in A-Major by Ludwig Van Beethoven; and Sonata for Violoncello and Piano in G-Minor by Sergej Rachmaninov.
Dubai audiences will also be excited by the performance of the Duo’s own arrangement and adaptation of Richard Wagner’s Wesendonck-Songs to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
Brigitta Dagostin, Chairperson for the Dubai Concert Committee, said: “We are thrilled to have the Kleinhapl Woyke duo perform in Dubai for us. They have been collaborating since 2003 performing all over the world earning stellar reputations and creating numerous CD-recordings that have been published by German label ARS Produktion. The audience is sure to have a memorable evening as these two artists exemplify musical excellence.”
Woyke is a trained classical pianist. However in his own compositions he is inspired by diverse musical cultures and styles such as jazz, rock, soul, funk and ethno. He enjoys combining one ormore classical music composers with his own compositions or those of popular modern composers. Thus he enables the audience to experience well-known music in a completely new way, and challenges them to explore the particular effect each component has on the other.
Kleinhapl is regarded by those in the music world as one of the most promising musicians of a new generation. He has earned the endorsements from renowned musicians Claudio Abbado and Yehudi Menuhin and is known for his unusual versatility – playing chamber music and appearing regularly as a soloists in suites and concertos.
