Emirates Post Group Highlights Achievements And Future Plans At Media Briefing

In response to the ‘Media Contact’ initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote stronger interaction between government entities and the media, Emirates Post Group (EPG) hosted a Media Interaction event at its new head office in Ramool, Dubai.

The event was addressed by Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, EPG, answered questions from the media on a number of services and projects of EPG and its subsidiaries, which include Wall Street Exchange and Electronic Documents Centre (EDC) as well as operational units Emirates Post and Empost.

He highlighted the key goals of the Group, which include increasedcustomer satisfaction, higher productivity, good work environment and spirit of volunteering.

Mr. Bin Karamalso spoke about the network expansion of Emirates Post, one of the subsidiaries of the Group. Today, the network has 116 post offices across the UAE, offering a bouquet of 57 services: 33 postal and 24 non-postal.

He said Empost, the 2nd largest domestic express courier company in the UAE, was on a strong growth path, having established strategic partnerships with DHL Express and FedEx. One of Empost’s key focus areas is mailroom management of Banks and Government companies.Empost complementsEmirates Post by offering the Ezimail service which delivers PO Box mail to companies at doorstep. Today there are over 1300 such customers.
Wall Street Exchange, a wholly subsidiary of the Group, is a leading money exchange and remittance company, with a growing network in the UAE and internationally. Its ‘Instant Cash’ product is now highly popular, and recently Wall Street Exchange tied up with India Post to roll out the Instant Cash service in a phased manner at 17,500 post offices in India, through the International Financial System (IFS) of Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Emirates Post Group was also very active in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) area, through its campaigns targeting the welfare of the community and getting the employees more involved in volunteer work. The total eventsorganized during 2013 were 15, compared to 13 last year. The CSR activities included participation in Sheikh Mohamed’s ‘Thank You’ campaign, Beach Cleanup, Mother’s Day celebrations, donating unclaimed home appliances to Beit Al Khair Society, participation in Al Ajer Campaign of H.H. Sheikh Majid Bin Muhammad Al Maktoum, participation in UAE Humanitarian Day and Flag Day celebrations.

Among the year’s major achievements were the signing of an agreement between Emirates Post Group and Somalia making Dubai the hub for mail forwarding, as Somalia resumed postal services after a gap of 23 years.
Emirates Post’s “Express Parcel” service, which is available for 179 international destinations, saw a significant jump in outbound parcel volumes in 2013, especially to China, India and Sudan.

The world’s biggest stamp was issued by Emirates Post in recognition of social and political contribution of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, President of General Women’s Association and Chairperson of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Emirates Post’s stamp on Ghaf tree won the third place in the ‘Most Beautiful Stamp Competition’ of Grand Prix de l’Exposition WIPA held in the Austrian postal service headquarters in Vienna.

Mr. Bin Karam said Emirates Post Group supported strongly the ‘Absher’initiative of His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the goal of boosting Emirati citizens’ involvement in the local labour market.

The Group signed nine MOUs in 2013 to add new services and to boost community services. The new agreements were signed with organisations like Dubai Police, Dubai Land Department, Dubai Fishermen Co-Op Association, Road and Transportation Authority (RTA), Community Development Authority, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Emirates Transport, among others.
