Employees of Emirates Gas LLC (EMGAS), a business subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), took part in the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign organised by the Emirates Environmental Group.
EMGAS also sponsored two educational institutes - Emirates International School & Delhi Private School - which participated in the campaign, with 50 students and faculty, taking part in the clean-up drive from each school. The EMGAS team undertook the cleaning up activities at Nad Al Sheba area, while the two schools supported by the company participated in activities held in Dubai and Umm Al Quwain.
Hesham Ali Mustafa, Senior Director – ENOC Gas Marketing, Head of International Business Development and General Manager of Emirates Gas LLC, said: “The support to the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign every year is an ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment of EMGAS. In addition to supporting the schools, we also have a hands-on involvement with our staff members volunteering for the campaign.
“’Clean Up UAE’ has a strong role to play in promoting environmental sustainability, and through our participation, we are putting the spotlight on the need to highlight environmental awareness and encourage more youngsters to become active participants in reducing the land pollutants in our habitat and achieving the nation’s vision for sustainable development.”
‘Clean Up UAE’ reflects the vision of Emirates Environmental Group, an organisation committed to promoting a safer, cleaner and greener environment. EMGAS has been participating in the campaign since 2009, with staff members volunteering to collect cans and other waste, and recycle them where possible.
In addition to raising awareness on environmental issues, the campaign focuses on promoting community engagement in waste management, waste reduction and recycling.
Last year, the ‘Clean Up UAE’ campaign mobilised over 42,000 participants who collected over 191 tonnes of waste at over 112 locations.
EMGAS has undertaken several concerted initiatives to promote a culture of ‘green energy,’ and introduced a range of products that help reduce energy consumption and carbon emission. In addition to championing the use of compressed natural gas as a
cleaner and greener fuel, the company is also actively involved in various CSR initiatives which include promotion of public safety.
