The Fashion Stakes Are Set To Get A Lot Higher At The Dubai Shopping Festival Vertical Catwalk On Burj Khalifa
(16 January 2014)

Giving a new definition to the term “high fashion”, the Dubai Shopping Festival 2014 is collaborating with Etoile “La Boutique” to stage the very first Vertical Catwalk on the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, on 20th January.

The exclusive invitation-only event at the Armani Pavilion – Burj Khalifa, which is also organized in association with Burj Khalifa and Paris Gallery, will be held in front of an audience of distinguished guests and high flyers in the local, regional and international fashion industry and members of the fashion press. Invitees will witness a spectacular 30-minute show that will combine aerial acrobatics and haute couture fashion presented by six acrobats suspended from waist harnesses and 10 models showcasing up to 40 different looks.

Invitees can look forward to collections by Ingie Paris, Christian Dior, Prabal Gurung, Alaia, Issa, Amanda Wakeley, Raoul, Collette Dinnigan, Safiyaa, Kotur, Elizabeth & James, presented by Etoile “La Boutique”, with hair and makeup by Paris Gallery.

“Dubai is already known on the international stage as a city of superlatives – constantly looking to be the biggest, the highest and the best. With fashion being such a huge component of the retail and entertainment offering at DSF 2014, we really wanted to set the bar high. With the city being home to the world’s tallest building, we felt it would be the perfect location to stage the very first Vertical Catwalk on the Burj Khalifa and put together a fashion event unlike any other previously seen in this part of the world,” said Her Excellency, Laila Mohammed Suhail, CEO, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), and the organizer of Dubai Shopping Festival.

Ingie Chalhoub CEO and Managing Director of Etoile Group and Creative Director of Fashion label INGIE Paris, said: “We are very excited to be partner of DSF for this spectacular event. As the pioneers of luxury fashion in the Region, we are glad to show how the Etoile “La boutique” SS14 collection pushes the boundaries of fashion and gravity in the first ever Vertical Catwalk on the Burj Khalifa.”

Security and logistics surrounding the location – one of the world’s most recognizable structures and a prime tourism landmark in Dubai – will mean that the team organizing the vertical fashion show will have only a few hours during the day to rehearse their performance before the final show.

All choreography is expected to be timed to the second to ensure a safe and synchronized performance at the scheduled hour. The DSF Vertical Catwalk is expected to begin at 8pm and is definitely this fashion season’s hottest ticket.

The Vertical Catwalk is yet another unique highlight of DSF’s 2014 calendar of fashion events and activations which include the Fashion Squad, The Cocoon, Abati Show, the IT Closet and Market Outside The Box which aim to shine the spotlight firmly on fun and innovative elements of the shopping experience.
