Al Ghurair Centre In Deira Extends Its Submission Date For Their Public Art Commission To The 24th October

Due to overwhelming interest, artists now have an extra two weeks to submit their concepts for Al Ghurair Centres Public Art Commission under the theme some things change, some things stay the same. Judges are awaiting concepts and ideas and will shortlist the entries to ten in November. Those shortlisted will get the opportunity to perfect their concept design, working alongside the judges acting as project mentors. Up to five finalists will be awarded funding for the creation of their design and have it displayed as a permanent piece of public art in and around Dubais original mall. Judges include:
Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum (UAE National) ­ Artist, photographer and progressive buusiness woman. She is determined to promote artistic development in the UAE.
Patricia Millns (British National) ­Her work can be seen in pprestigious public and private collections worldwide, including The British Museum, the Royal Commonwealth Society, Sharjah National Museum, the Kuwait National Collection, the Royal Collection of Jordan and the Cultural Foundation of Abu Dhabi and UNIFEM New York.

Ebtisam Abdul-Aziz (UAE National) ­ She has exhibited widely both across the UAE and internationally. A member of the Emirates Fine Art Society she lives and works in Sharjah.

Colin Reaney (New Zealand National) ­ Associate Professor in Sculpture at AUD,, Colin is involved in many collaborative art projects internationally.

Five winners will have their art sculptures permanently displayed in and around the mall in January 2015
The final winner will get a fully expensed mentorship with Cedar Lewisohn in London , a famous artist and curator from the UK
