Dubai. January 5, 2015: Dubai Healthcare City, the world’s largest healthcare free zone, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UAE Ministry of Health (MOH) towards clinical skills training and medical education support.

Under the terms of the agreement, the parties will jointly develop healthcare professionals’ capabilities and skills to improve healthcare delivery in the country.

Towards medical education, DHCC will collaborate with the MOH across areas including clinical skills training and development of scientific research through its academic complex the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center (MBR-AMC). The complex is home to Al Maktoum Medical Library, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center and Dubai College of Dental Medicine.

The two parties will also facilitate patient referrals to deliver the required medical expertise and services.

The MoU builds on DHCC’s continuous efforts to cement Dubai’s position as a destination-of-choice for world class healthcare and medical tourism.

The agreement was signed by Marwan Abedin, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City and His Excellency Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services, Ministry of Health.

“The cooperation between DHCC and MOH achieves our common vision of promoting and developing the healthcare sector in Dubai and the UAE. The agreement will expedite the exchange of expertise for the benefit of the UAE community,” said Abedin. “All educational and training resources provided by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center will be made available to deliver on the goals of the agreement.”

HE Al Ketbi commented: “We are pleased to sign this agreement with DHCC, and we look forward to working closely with all stakeholders involved in the development of local healthcare professionals.
