Entries Being Received For Dubai Shopping Festival 2015 Media Awards

The Media Centre of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the organizers of the Dubai Shopping Festival, has started receiving entries for the Dubai Shopping Festival 2015 Media Awards, held under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The aim of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2015 Media Awards is to recognize the unique role played by media personnel and their organisations in the evolution of DSF, its emergence as a leading festival brand and its achievement of reaching the milestone 20th edition, which commenced on 1 January and will run until 1 February 2015 under the theme “Journey of Celebrations”.

Participation is open to journalists, media organizations and press photographers. This year, DFRE has introduced new award categories and expanded some to provide the widest possible participation of media personnel in various channels including print, broadcast and online at a local, regional and international level in both English and Arabic.

The jury that will be appointed to judge this year’s awards will scrutinize the entries on the basis of various parameters such as quality of research, writing style, quality of content, creativity in news angle and overall impact of the story.

Application forms can be collected from the DFRE office or downloaded from www.mydsf.ae

The deadline to submit entries is Sunday, 1 February, 2015, which is the last day of DSF. All entries must be submitted to the Media Centre of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.

DFRE will accept entries in the following categories:

Best Feature – Local Newspaper: This category includes entries featured in local newspapers in the UAE, with one winner for each of the three categories:

Best Feature – Shopping: Any feature that focuses on the role of the festival in driving the growth of the shopping sector in Dubai.
Best Feature – Local Culture & Heritage: Any feature that focuses on the role of DSF in highlighting the heritage and local culture of the UAE.
Best Feature – Celebrations: Any feature that focuses on the role of DSF in enhancing the festive ambience of Dubai.

Best Column: This category includes any column with a point of view on DSF, and published in various print newspapers and magazines locally or regionally.

Best Interview: This category includes 1 –on- 1 interviews with public and private figures sharing their experiences about DSF, published in either local or regional print newspapers.

Best Feature – Regional Newspaper: This category includes all DSF-related feature articles published in regional newspapers.

Best Television Coverage: This category includes all TV reports that are broadcasted on local, regional or international channels.

Best Feature – Online Media: This category includes any media coverage that is published exclusively on websites or any social media platform.

Best Feature by a Promising Journalist (under 25 years only): This category includes media coverage – print, video or audio – by a promising young local or regional journalist under the age of 25 years.

Best Editorial Team Coverage: This category includes entries from an editorial team of one local newspaper that will take into account the comprehensive media coverage of various events held as part of DSF 2015.

Best Feature on “Dubai Shopping Festival …Journey Over 20 Years : A special category has been launched by DFRE to mark the milestone 20th edition of DSF. In this category, DFRE will accept entries highlighting DSF’s contribution towards the growth of the tourism and retail sectors of Dubai over the last two decades, in addition to its role as a creative platform for cultural exchange among visitors from around the world. 

Press photographers from various local newspapers and magazines published in Arabic and English can also participate in the award under two main categories:

DSF Celebrations: Photographs in this category should capture the multicultural aspect of Dubai and DSF in the form of visitors, tourists, families and individuals indulging in the festival’s world-class events and activities.

DSF Shopping: Photographs in this category should highlight the unique shopping opportunities available to families and individuals of diverse nationalities during DSF and capture the fun element of the shopping experience in Dubai brought to life at some of the world’s largest and finest shopping malls in the world.
